He stood as they cursed him
He stood as they screamed
He stood as they shamed him
He stood forever, it seemed.
He hoped on a wish
He hoped on a prayer
He hoped for some magic
He hoped God was there.
He believed in his heart
He believed in his divine
He believed he was created
He believe he was fine.
He swam toward his dreams
He swam against the tide
He swam to find peace
He swam for his pride
then....
He stood as he pondered
He stood a recluse
He stood near a chair
He stood near a noose.
He imagined his death
He imagined the smother
He imagined his tormentors
He imagined his mother.
They stood, a large crowd
They stood, and many cried
They stood as he spoke
They stood full of pride.
He lived on that stage
He lived and made a choice
He lived in spite of heartache
He lived to add his voice.
