What if ?

Churches in the Greater Tri-Cities TN/VA/KY/NC area

What if?

Every red dot in a church. What if every one fed the hungry? Helped the sick? Sheltered the homeless? What if the churches combined and turned the buildings into homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, food banks? What if they exchanged their choir robes for clothing for those who had none? What if their wasted air conditioning and heat cooled and warmed up the elderly who couldn't afford heat and air?

Then we wouldn't need the government to help them. We would be doing the call of Christ. "What you do for the least of these, you do for me." We would humble ourselves and stop needing THINGS and think about what our neighbor needs. We  would be better people.

But we have forgotten the call of Christ.

So now, look at the dots again. None of those church properties pay a dime in taxes. No property taxes, no income taxes. Not any. Think of  how much the "least of these" could be helped. Think of the poverty our region could be lifted out of.

So remember this the next time you want to judge a person on public assistance.

We do not need more churches. We need more churches ACTING like Christ.
