A New Battle Cry:Rise UP!

If I could cover the world
with blankets of peace and love
a little grace mixed with mercy
blessings from above.

Make all the earth be silent
if just for a day
no shouting or hate speech
let it all slip away.

If we knew for a moment
the sweet sound of peace
letting nature do all the talking
we'd command the bombs to cease.

Then among nature's whispers
we'd hear the hungry child cry
and the mother's tears begging
that her starving child not die.

And the old man's feet shuffling
with all he owns on his back
wondering where he'll sleep tonight
where no one will give him flak.

And the shaking whimpers
of the girl too afraid to live
so she slices her arm endlessly
hoping death its rest will give.

Could it be that's why we like life so noisy
the radio t,v blaring
'cause it drowns out the needy's cries
that remind us we should be caring?

We are not so simply excused
ignorance is not really bliss
for in your "don't ask, don't tell" moments
another person Death has kissed.

Rise up all you people!
For Father God and Mother Earth
expects us to help one another
after they have given birth.

Turn down the noise,
Sing the new battle cry
of a new era just beginning
for the needy we will not pass by.
