Lay It Down

One a.m., I lay in bed, too many thoughts in my head
I wish for sleep, I try counting sheep
Then I stare at the ceiling

Lord, I’ve got to lay it down, so when I turn around
I can rest knowin’
That while I sleep, my heart you will keep
And I’ll wake safe in the wings of the mornin'.

The answers will reveal, I’m sure you won’t conceal
When the time comes near.
It won’t do me well, for my mind, to dwell
And blind me with my fear.

Lord, I’ve got to lay it down, so when I turn around
I can rest knowin’
That while I sleep, my heart you will keep
And I’ll wake safe in the wings of the mornin'.
