If I had a wish,
I think that it would be
that our memories would be lost
so we could live in harmony.
Nobody would remember
who it was they used to hate
and why it was the one's who loved
that we tried to legislate.
There would be no recollection
of the party or the crowd
we once belonged to long ago
when we cursed each other loud.
We would probably start to wonder
why so many churches had been built
could we not worship together,
was the world consumed with guilt?
And with the slate wiped clean as glass
we would create all memories new
replace the hate with only love
and let peace make its debut.
